When I started in Sixth Form, I was unsure about university and assessed possible alternative routes into adult life. Apprenticeships stood out to me because it gives you the chance to work and earn money but also complete qualifications.

Since leaving SRPA in 2019, I worked full time for a year in a supermarket. This challenging experience gave me some valuable skills and an insight into what it would be like in full time work.

I also completed a week of work experience in a Commercial department of a large well-known business.

I applied for around 10 various apprenticeships during the year and progressed on a few. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it closed some of my options and made it quite difficult. Luckily, I received an offer for a Level 7 Finance & Commercial Apprenticeship at Siemens. I started in September 2020 and I have gained so many skills.

Since I left RP in 2015, I graduated from the University of Leicester with a First Class degree in History and Politics. I then went on to work for ASOS.com in London on a competitive graduate scheme. Since last year, I have been working for a top senior civil servant in the Cabinet Office – a dream job and really exciting!

It’s hard to think that this time last year I was finishing my A Levels and waiting to start a fixed term placement as a Receptionist. Now, a year on, I am looking forward to a CMI approved degree in business leadership and management with Lincolnshire Co-op starting in September.

That of course is all thanks to you guys at Sir Robert Pattinson Academy. There’s no doubt that the support and opportunities that were available throughout my seven years at the academy have allowed me to develop into the confident person I am today and as a result has opened up this incredible doorway for me, and for that I am so thankful.

I now have an exciting five-year development plan in place at the Lincolnshire Co-op, which involves completing the degree programme and training up to being a qualified HR Advisor. Businesses want to progress their staff more and more nowadays and I would strongly urge year 11 & 13 students to explore every possible option before deciding which direction their path will go next.

I have been to two football scholarship trials and both companies wanted to sign me. I became Captain at Lincoln City Futsal and I have been to the home of English football, St George’s Park, to play twice. I also sat my SAT exam for America where I scored higher on my English and reading than Maths.

On Wednesday 1st April 2020 I signed my commitment agreement to join Allen College, Kansas for the next year playing ’soccer’ and studying psychology. Their nickname is the Red Devils.
