Our tutor programme and pastoral support

Our RP6TH staff team provide outstanding pastoral support for our students . Our team of tutors meet with their group first thing in the morning each day and are the ‘go to’ contact for our young people.

In addition to this our Deputy Head of Sixth Form leads on pastoral support and triages the required different levels of support, including our KS5 Wellbeing Mentor and our specialist KS5 counsellors based in the Ros Christopher Centre (RCC). This is an additional onsite facility where students can self-refer for 1-1 support.

Our weekly tutor programme supports student transition from KS4 with activities to support and maintain excellent attendance and punctuality, allowing students time to reflect on their learning from the previous week and set targets for the coming week.

There are enrichment opportunities for students, with time to get involved with various student leadership opportunities such as peer mentoring, paired reading and transition support with younger students or being a successful member of our Senior Student Leadership Team, working alongside the RP6TH team to develop and improve our provision further.

‘The Big Question’ is another activity where each tutor group will discuss a topical question designed to encourage debate and conversations, often relating to current events with a social, moral, spiritual or cultural (SMSC) focus.

There is also an opportunity each week, often on a Friday, where tutors and students celebrate the excellence of our students throughout the term with rewards and certificates for stand out performance in all areas.
