At RP6TH, we consider the needs of our young people, the values and ethos of the sixth form, the local community and local environment in which the academy is situated. British Values and citizenship are also key to ensuring our students are worldly wise and ready for the wider world.
All of our personal development lessons follow one of these three themes of Health and Wellbeing, Relationships and Living in the Wider World, which includes our careers programme.
In addition, our Personal Development Days are more diverse, with opportunities for our students to get involved in:
Our Learning to Learn programme – supporting our students with their study skills.
The University Programme – giving students the chance to visit at least two universities and a number of other bespoke visits related to the subjects students have chosen or career pathways they are interested in.
The Stress Buster Programme – supporting student wellbeing with visits to the local bowling alley, restaurants, cinema and other local venues.
External workshops – supporting students with personal statements, CVs and applications, learning to drive safely with ‘2Fast2Soon’ and interview techniques.
Work Experience – a chance for students to have a high quality work place experience.
Independent Living Skills – students learn about the skills they will need to cook, in their domestic life, buying and maintaining a vehicle and managing their finances effectively.
Our students take ownership of their own personal development and their voice is a huge element in the planning of a successful programme that supports their development.
